Jay Panda inaugurates 1st Project after suspension from BJD

ONI Bureau: Suspended BJD MP from Kendrapara, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda inaugurated another 1 lakh litre drinking water project in his constituency – first after the suspension. And, it passed off without any protests or violence.

The BJD leaders and elected representatives boycotted the event – 13th of the 57 MPLAD-funded drinking water projects in Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency. It was inaugurated in Andara panchayat in Pattamundai block by a young student Debasmita Mallick.

Earlier, heavy security deployment was made in Andara and its nearby areas to prevent any untoward incident. Kendrapara SP had warned the hooligans of stern action if they violated the law.

Meanwhile, Baijayant Panda yet again lashed out at his critics, saying people know who was threatening him and conspired against him. “I am here in my constituency to be with my people. People’s love and affection have given me the courage to face injustice”, he said.

While rejecting any sort of violence in forms of Egg Attack or Stone Pelting, Baijayant Panda took a dig at the system, asking why there is a hypocrisy and double standard in similar cases. “When I was attacked with eggs and stones, which hit me too, there was a delay in filing cases against people. Nobody was punished. But, when a woman hurled eggs at the meeting, she was charged under Section 307 (attempt to murder)”. he lamented.

He also took lashed out at Bureaucrats, saying Government officials who have crossed their limits and are interfering in political matters should resign first from their position. “I was made a scapegoat and punished as I raised my voice against the non-Odia officers for the sake of pride and dignity of Odias. Nobody can oust me from Kendrapara,” he added.

“BJD was formed against the Goondaraj. But, situation has changed in the last 3/4 years. I don’t think Biju Babu would have tolerated this kind of hooliganism in the party had been alive today,” Jay Panda said.

Meanwhile, 3 platoons of police force have been deployed in Talasanga village in Kendrapara ahead of MP Baijayant Panda’s visit to attend a felicitation ceremony today. Tent of the ceremony was ransacked by some miscreants last night.
