JE Deaths: Pradeep Majhi withdraws Hunger Strike

congressFormer Nabarangpur MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi and five other congress workers ended their six-day hunger strike after submitting a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir today.

Notably, Pradeep Majhi along with MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria and other associates started fast-unto-death from December 21, demanded filling up of 55 doctor posts in Malkangiri area and compensation of Rs 12 lakh each for the family members of the deceased who died due to the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Malkangiri district.

In order to press the demands, Congress today staged a two-hour road blockade in all the district headquarters across the state between 10 am and 12 pm.
