Jolt to Odisha Govt, SC dismisses Petition against Prakash Mishra

The Supreme Court has rejected the fresh petition filed by the Odisha Government against the Orissa HC’s decision to dismiss the vigilance case against former DGP Prakash Mishra and exonerate him from all charges while castigating the Vigilance Department for falsely implicating him.

The apex court rejected the arguments of Odisha Government and upheld the verdict of Orissa HC. However, the SC asked the government to file a fresh petition to expunge the observation made by the Orissa HC against Vigilance Department.

The Odisha Government had hired senior and expensive lawyers such as Harish Salve and Abhishek Manu Singhvi to fight its case. Currently, Prakash Mishra is posted as the CRFP DG.
