Justice DH Waghela to be next Chief Justice of Orissa HC

Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Justice Dhirendra Hiralal Waghela is all set to become the next Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. A notification in this regard, was issued by the Rashtrapati Bhawan today.

The post fell vacant after Justice Amitava Roy was elevated as the Supreme Court Judge in March 2015. Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty has been serving as the acting Chief Justice since then. Justice Waghela would take charge within two months. He would retire from service in August 2016.

Justice DH Waghela was born on 11.08.1954 at Rajkot in the family of artists and artisans. He began his legal practice in November 1975. He assumed the office as Additional Judge of the High Court of Gujarat on 17th September, 1999. He became a permanent judge in May 2001.
