Kandhamal Killings: Maoists’ 2-day Kandhamal, Rayagada Bandh begins today

kandhamal-killings-pti_240x180_41468300495Rayagada Bandh begins today in protest against the shocking death of five innocent villagers and an infant, who were killed during the crossfire between Maoists and the security forces on July 8, Maoists have called for a two-day bandh in Rayagada and Kandhamal districts.

Normal life has thrown out of gear as government buses remained off the roads during the bandh, though vehicular movement was normal in the two districts.

Maoist posters were also seen at several places of both the districts in which Umakant, the secretary of the Basdhara, Ghumusur and Nagabali division has strongly condemned the attacks on civilians and has demanded Rs 25 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased and Rs 10 lakh compensation for the injured.

Police is on high alert and to avoid untoward situation, security forces have been deployed at various places in the districts, said Kandhamal SP Pinak Mishra.
