Kandhamal Riots: Naidu Commission to submit report to Odisha Govt today

Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: Justice AS Naidu Commission of Inquiry will submit it inquiry report on 2008 Kandhamal riots to Odisha government today. Home Secretary of Odisha government is likely to get the investigation report from the Commission by Tuesday afternoon.

As per reports, the commission was set up by the state government to investigate into the riots in Kandhamal following assassination to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati and his four aides at his ashram at Jaleshpata in Kandhamal district on August 23, 2008.

The state government constituted the commission on September 8, 2008 to investigate communal violence that broke out in the area following murder of VHP leader. During the investigation, more than 800 affidavits were filed with the commission. And, more than 300 person were deposed before the commission as witnesses.
