Keonjhar Municipality Chairperson loses ‘No-Trust’ Motion

Keonjhar, Dec 29:  In a setback to the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the chairperson of Keonjhar Municipality Meena Majhi has lost no-trust vote on Monday moved by councillors including her own party colleagues.

In the 20-member Municipality, 16 members attended the no-confidence motion on Monday. Notably, 15 members including 9 members of BJD and 6 from Congress voted against Majhi while one member abstained from the polling.

The BJD had issued to its councillors not to participate in the no-confidence motion against chairman. Taking serious note over the BJD members those voted against own party leader in the no-confidence motion, senior leader and Urban Development Badri Narayan Patra said proper action would be taken against its members.
