KIMS acquires Ultramodern Neuro Surgery MicroscopeBhubaneswar, Oct 15: Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a constituent of KIIT University, has acquired the state-of-the-art surgical microscope for precision neurosurgery, Leica M525 OH4. It is the only neuro surgical microscope of its kind installed in Odisha and second in whole of Eastern India.

Its reach, height and clearance, one of the best in the industry, enables surgeons to achieve the best working position. Featuring full auto balance of all axis with intraoperative balancing, the Leica OH4 floorstand moves easily and when the brakes are released, and the microscope stabilizes in only 1.5 seconds and remains vibration free. It has two completely independent, primary 300W xenon arc-lamp illumination systems. The second 300W system automatically and immediately switches on in the event of one lamp’s failure.

High degree of light transmission provides better patient safety by allowing the surgeon to use lower degrees of illumination. Besides, BrightCare, the FDA approved patented technology, automatically adjusts the illumination to eliminate the chances of tissue burning. The microscope is fully compatible with all major brands of IGS systems for neuro navigation. It is the only microscope where three surgeons can see simultaneously. It also features the latest generation 1080p documentation system, which makes it excellent for teaching purposes also.

Leica M525 OH4 is the latest in the series of high precision and ultra modern medical equipment procured by KIMS. It reflects the Hospital’s commitment in providing the highest standard of patient care.
