Konark Sun Temple Reopens With Restrictions

With restricting easing under Unlock 4.0, the Konark Sun Temple reopened on Tuesday, but with restrictions. The iconic site had been shut since March 15 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Archaeological Survey of India will allow only 2,500 tourists in two phases every day. In the first slot from 6am to 1pm, only 1500 visitors will be allowed. In the afternoon slot, 1000 visitors will be allowed to enter the Konark Sun Temple.

Though, temples like Raja Rani temple, Lalitgiri, Udaygiri were opened earlier, Konark temple remained out of bounds for tourists.

The Puri Jagannath temple, meanwhile, continues to remain shut.
