BJD leader and Chairman of Koraput Municipality, Biswa Bhusan Patnaik, has resigned from his post following the allegations levelled against him by a lady councilor. Biswa Bhusan submitted his resignation to the ADM in the presence of District BJD President.
He also sent his resignation letter to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. While resigning from his post, Biswa Bhusan has denied the misbehavior and abuse charges levelled against him by a lady councilor from Ward No. 13. He sought a probe into the matter to ascertain the truth. Biswa Bhusan, who had been absconding following the allegations, has surrendered before the cops today.
The Congress Party had raked up this issue and called for a Koraput bandh tomorrow to press for the Municipality Chairman’s resignation. Following his resignation, the bandh call has been withdrawn.
