Kunduli ‘Gangrape’ Victim commits Suicide

ONI Bureau: While Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik was accorded a hero’s welcome on arrival in Bhubaneswar for receiving the ”Aadarsh Mukhyamantri Puraskar’ by MIT School of Government in Pune, a shocking news was awaiting him.

The Class IX victim from Sorisapadar village under Potangi police limits, who was allegedly gangraped by 4 ‘men in uniform’ in the forest Lanjiguda forest on October 10, 2017 while returning from school, finally committed suicide after failing to get justice and being subjected to humiliation in public.

She had hanged herself at her residence this morning. While she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the doctors declared her ‘received dead’.

It can be recalled that after she alleged ‘gangrape’, she was first admitted to Koraput hospital and then discharged. She was again admitted to SCB in Cuttack although the Odisha Police claimed that ‘she was never raped’. Even there were allegations that she was being forced to change statement and later confined and harassed.

The victim herself made startling claims that she was being influenced by Odisha DGP Dr. RP Sharma, which the top cop had denied. The Congress, which had launched a massive movement on this issue, had expressed deep grief and shock over the incident. Former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi and Jeypore MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati put the blame on State Government and Odisha CM.
