Kunduli Tragedy: Upasna leads ‘Go Back Naveen’ protest in Mumbai

ONI Bureau: A copule of years ago, it was late Lulu Mohapatra who posed a threat to Naveen Patnaik’s invincibility and dared him by leading the ‘Egg Attack’. He is not there today. But, his daughter Upasna Mohapatra renewed the rivalry, this time for a greater cause.

Upasna, who has joined the BJP a few months ago and currently pursuing her studies in Mumbai, has led a group of non-resident Odias in Mumbai to hold demonstration in front of YB Chouhan Auditorium where the CM had gone to present the book, ‘The Tall Man Biju Patnaik’.

Slogans such as ‘Naveen Patnaik Go Back’, ‘Naveen Patnaik Down Down’ greeted the CM, which he hardly expected in Mumbai. Although the protesters were taken into preventive custody to ensure smooth conduct of the book presenting ceremony, damage was already done and the message was sent.

“We are protesting against the CM who is in Mumbai to launch a book while our state is bleeding with pain. After what happened to the 14-year-old Kunduli victim, we, the girls feel insecure to go to our hometown. Instead ensuring safety and security of girl children and women, the CM is smiling and going on an image building drive”, said Upasna.

Naveen-Tall-Man-Mumbai‘The Tall Man Biju Patnaik’ was presented at a function in Mumbai last evening in the presence of Author Sundar Ganeshan, Technocrat Subrato Bagchi, Flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Writer Ramakant Panda and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik.
