Lawyers-cops spat: Orissa HC orders Crime Branch probe

ONI Bureau:  The Orissa High Court on Tuesday ordered a Crime Branch probe into the ongoing conflicts between police personnel and lawyers following the attack on a lawyer on August 28 in Cuttack.

Hearing the two petitions filed by Orissa High Court Bar Association and Nationalist Lawyers’ Association, Orissa High Court today directed for the thorough probe into the incident. Next hearing of the case will be held on Monday.

Sources said a DSP-rank officer of the Crime Branch will investigate the incident.
