Life History of Biju Patnaik to be taught in Schools from 2017-18

biju-patnaikState Government has decided to include the life history of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik in the School Curriculum from 2017-18.

Students studying in Classes-VI to X would be taught about the life story of the legendary leader from the coming academic session.

The chapter will cover his early life, school days, career, his role in the Quit India Movement and in rescuing the former Prime Minister of Indonesia.

Notably, Patnaik was given honorary citizenship in Indonesia and awarded the ‘Bhoomi Putra’, the highest Indonesian award.

The School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said to media persons that the State Government has planned to introduce a chapter on the life story of eminent persons who had played a key role in the Independence struggle movement.

Apart from Biju babu, life histories of other freedom fighters such as Subhas Chandra Bose, Veer Surendra Sai and Laxman Naik would also be part of the school curriculum from the 2017-18 academic session.
