The new year celebrations in Odisha may take a heavy beating, as the Met department has predicted rains during the period of December 29 till January 1 due to the formation of a low pressure. The low pressure has been formed off the Sri Lankan coast this morning.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Mohapatra has directed District collectors of South, North and Coastal Odisha to stay on alert and make necessary arrangements to deal with any type of crisis situation.
Under the influence of low pressure, most parts of south, north and coastal districts would receive moderate to heavy rainfall from December 29 to January 1. Cooperation and Food Supply and Consumer Welfare departments have been asked to make adequate preparations to tackle the situation. The farmers have been asked to keep their harvested food grains at safer places.
