Mahanga Double Murder: Police Arrests Five Accused

Cuttack Police have arrested five persons in the Mahanga double murder case of BJP leader Kulamani Baral and his associate. The weapons used by them allegedly for murder has also been seized.

The four accused, have been identified as Panchanan Sethi (28), Arabinda Khatua (27), Khitish Acharya (45) and Lalit Baral (75). The fifth accused was nabbed today and is identity is yet to be revealed.

The police has, however, not revealed the motive behind the murder yet.

A total of 14 persons including Law Minister Pratap Jena were booked based on a complaint filed by the deceased leader’s son. It had led to a verbal spat between the BJP and the BJD, with the former accusing the ruling party of indulging in political murder.

Kulamani Baral and his associate were murdered on Saturday while he was returning home on a motorbike.
