Mamata Dalai, Pankaj Mahanta of Odisha receive National Bravery Award

ONI Bureau:  The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on Tuesday honored 18 children including two from Odisha with the National Bravery Award-2017. Three of the brave hearts are also awarded posthumously.

Mamata Dalai (6), from Kendrapara district who fearlessly fought off a crocodile to save her sister Asanti’s life, honored with the award.

Similarly, Pankaj Mohanta (14) from Keonjhar district who had shown his courage by saving three women from drowning in the Baitarani River also got the bravery award.

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind met National Bravery Award winning children at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. All eighteen children, including seven girls will also participate in the Republic Day Parade.
