Man jumps to death from IDCO Tower in Bhubaneswar

IDCO Tower Suicide CaseBhubhaneswar, Oct 21: One Gajendra Nath Das of Paradip in Jagatsingpur district allegedly committed suicide by jumping from IDCO Tower located at Rupali Square on Tuesday noon here.

After getting information about the incident from the security guard of IDCO Tower, Sahid Nagar Police rushed to spot and started investigation into the death of Gajendra, who was a contractor by profession. He was a resident of Sarala Nagar at Laxi Sagar area here.

According to reports, non-payment of dues by IDCO authorities was said to be the main reason behind his suicide. His family members alleged that he was not paid Rs 1.5 crore dues by IDCO officials for the construction of two Navodaya Schools at Konark and Rahama.

Police recovered a suicide note from the spot and sent the dead body to Capital hospital for autopsy. Police said it could be a suicide case; however, exact reason for taking such extreme step by the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

As per the police, the note stated that Das had come to meet IDCO authorities over release of payment for the construction work carried out by him. Police is investigating further into the case.
