Maoist Cadre Manoj Dehury surrenders in Angul

Angul, Dec 31: CPI Maoist cadre Manoj Dehury alias Madhab of village Jokub under Purunakote police jurisdiction in Angul district surrendered before the Superintendent of Police on Wednesday. He is a member of the banned CPI Maoist group SDS Division, operating in Satkosia Gorge sanctuary.

Giving detail about the surrendered Maoist in a press meet, Mr Rajesh Pandit, SP , Angul told that Madhab is a 303 rifle cadre and had joined in the group in 2014 inspired by Maoist leader Kunu Dehury. Madhab was recruiting tribal people to join Maoist organisation and involved in Chhotkei beat house  and Chuanri beat house attack.

Recently there was exchange of heavy fire in Satkosia Sanctuary under Purunagarah police station in the district between security personnel and Maoists .The security personnel destroyed Maoist’s temporary camp and seized many articles used by them, including literature, Walky Talki, uniform, arms and ammunitions.

The whole industrial district, except Banarpal and Talcher Block has been witnessing the presence of Maoist activists which posed great threat to the industrialisation and mining activities.
