Maoists abduct 7 Villagers in Mathili Block in Malkangiri

Maoists-MathiliThe Maoists, after carrying out three brutal attacks in Chhattisgarh in the last three days, have now stepped up their activities in Odisha. In a latest, they have abducted at least 7 people, including a political leader from the Kartanpali village of Mathili block in Malkangiri district.

Although the government officials or cops have not confirmed the incident, TV reports confirmed that they were abducted by at least 10-15 armed Maoists last night.

The abducted people, included Trinath Bhumia, former Vice Chairman of Mathili Block. The Maoists have not made any demand yet. It is believed that they have taken these people, assuming them as police informers.

As per the 2011 Census, Kartanpali has 167 families and a population of just 892 of which 499 are males while 393 are females.
