Maoists call Kalahandi Bandh over Encounter, Normal Life affected

MaoistsBhubaneswar, Nov 23: Maoists called bandh in three blocks of Kalahandi district on Monday protesting against police encounter on last week in which three civilians were killed.

Normal life affected in the district due the bandh called by Maoists outfits. Many passengers have been stranded in many parts of the district due to cease in the vehicular movement in three blocks. Shops and commercial establishments were closed on Monday and panic gripped in the areas.

Notably, last week three civilians including a ward member were gunned by security forces during combing operations at Karlapat forest in the district. Maoists alleged that there was no retaliation from the other sites when the security forces open firing indiscriminately on the people.

They demanded compensation of Rs.10 lack each to the families of killed three civilians – Panchu Majhi, Sukru Majhi and Jay Shankar Naik.
