Massive irregularities found in Ravenshaw University

ONI Bureau:  Massive corruption and other financial irregularities detected in Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, Additional Secretary of Higher Education Department, Prasant Kumar Das told to the media persons in Bhubaneswar on Thursday after conducting a high-level probe ordered by the Odisha Government.

The team found financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 2.87 crore.  Reportedly, the contractual lecturers were appointed without issuing advertisements for the posts.

Besides, the University authorities had purchased computers worth Rs 95 lakh without floating any tender during the 2014-15 academic sessions.

Likewise, the former vice-chancellor has availed his monthly expenses of Rs 40,000 as vehicle allowance, PK Das added.

The move comes after Governor and Ravenshaw University Chancellor Ganeshi Lal sought a probe into the alleged irregularities and submits report within 60 days.
