The Congress Party has finally decided to up the ante over the Nabakalebara fiasco in Puri Jagannath Temple and has called for a 12-hour Odisha Bandh on June 26. The party has demanded strong action against Law Minister Arun Sahoo, SJTA Chief Suresh Mohapatra and erring Daitapatis.
The Congress was initially reluctant to hit the streets even though the fiasco came into light on June 16. The party leaders slammed the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government for the mess and asked the CM to take stern action to restore the trust among the people.
OPCC President Prasad Harichandan, senior leader Lulu Mohapatra, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and former MLA Uma Ballav Rath are leading the charge against the government over the issue.
The Puri Bar Association, Bhubaneswar Bar Association, Orissa High Court Bar Association and many other Bar Associations across the state are holding a 12-hour ‘cease work’ protest today.
