NALCO, Damanjodi LAP Association calls off Strike

NALCOBhubaneswar, Nov 19: The members of NALCO Land Affected Person’s Association (LAP) have called off their fourth-month old strike after getting assurance from the Odisha government on Wednesday.

As per reports, LAP went on strike on 14 August 2015 demanding jobs to all 416 land losers. Even they observed hunger strike over their demands for five days in September 2015.

On Wednesday, a delegation of under the leadership of Prabhat Ranjan Biswal, Chairman of House Committee on Submission of Odisha government, discussed with the members of the association and pacified them to end their strike.

After getting assurance from the concern authorities, the members of the LAP have decided to call off their strike.

They were assured that jobs would provided to all those lost their one-third portion of land by the delegation. As per the decision, 235 families in the areas are entitled to get jobs in NALCO. And, if any family is not interested to take up then they would be paid compensation. The association has also urged the NALCO administration to consider 15 more families for jobs.

Prafulla Pangi (MLA, Pottangi), Bhujabal Majhi (MLA, Dabugan),  Purna Chandra Sethy (MLA, Khalikote), Basanti Mallick (MLA, Mohana) and  Srikant Sahu (MLA, Polsara) were in the delegation.
