Nalco to commence work on Damanjodi Refinery by February 2017

NALCO National Aluminium Company (NALCO) aims to begin its work on expansion of its alumina refinery at Damanjodi by February 2017.

NALCO is looking forward to get environment clearance for the refinery expansion by December this year or hopefully by the end of February 2017, said by Nalco’s chairman and managing director (CMD) T K Chand.

The expansion plan has already been cleared by the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), which is the highest body to approve investments in Odisha.

Apart from this, Nalco has recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and also looking at overseas  for initiating business with some Iranian companies for toll smelting arrangement, banking on cheap natural gas availability in that region.
