National History Symposium on ‘Gandhi in Odisha’ to be held in Delhi

ONI Bureau: The second edition of National History Symposium will be held on 3rd and 4th November 2018 at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Raj Ghat, New Delhi in association with Gandhi Darshan, ICHR, Harijan Sevak Sangha and other Gandhian organizations of the country.

The event being organised by ‘The Intellects’, would focus on the topic, ‘Gandhi in Odisha’. Eminent personalities, Gandhian leaders, Researchers, Freedom Fighters, Social Workers as well research scholars would attend the event and discuss how Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy could influence the thoughts and lifestyle of common people. The seminar will also discuss Mahatma Gandhi’s association with Odisha and Odia people.

Among others, Writer Mark Tully, Dr. Gopal Gandhi, Dr. Shankar Sanyal, Dr. Kumar Prashant, Dr. SN Subbarao, Tara Gandhi, Krishna Mohanty, Bhabani Pattnaik, Dr. Kailash Chandra Das, Dr. Nibedita Mohanty, Dr. Abhiram Biswal, Dr. Biswajit Ray, Madhusudan Das, Aryabhatta Mohanty, Gyana Ranjan Samantray would attend the seminar.

Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Culture Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and former President Pranab Mukherjee have been invited to attend the seminar. Over 300 young Gandhian students are expected to mark their presence.

Dr. Bhagban Prakash, Senior Advisor at the Election Commission, is the Chairman of the Reception Committee, while former Foreign Secretary Amarendra Khatua is the Chairman of Organising Committee. This event is going to be a huge success, says Debendra Nath Rout, Chairman of The Intellects.
