Naveen announces Rs 10 Cr aid for Cultural Centre in Surat

ONI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a financial aid of Rs 10 crore for setting up of an Odia Culture Centre in Surat during his visit to the City today. He has requested Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani to provide land for this cultural centre.

He also revealed the government’s plan to establish a 10+2 College in Surat for the benefits of non-resident Odias. The CM also sought to give more stress on kids learning Odia language by providing them books free of cost. Naveen has requested the Centre to start a direct flight between Surat and Bhubaneswar as well as train services between Berhampur and Surat.

Naveen attended the Odisha Mahotsav in Surat and told the Pravasi Odias that they can avail the benefits of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) even if they are staying in Gujarat. Earlier, the CM visited the Satya Sai Heart Hospital in Ahmedabad, met Odia patients and also issued discharge certificates to 36 of them. He appreciated the treatment offered by the Hospital.

Naveen also talked about the recently concluded Hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneswar and said he is happy to successfully host the event. “I am trying my best to convince the Union Govt to reduce the GST on Handloom and Textile products,” he told the Odia congregated at the Odisha Mahotsav in Surat.
