NHRC orders probe into Kunduli Gangrape & Suicide

ONI Bureau: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has ordered probe into the Kunduli “gangrape” and subsequent suicide by the victim.

The NHRC has directed a team to visit Kunduli soon and submit the probe report within 15 days. The directive came on a petition filed by a Human Rights Activist.

The NHRC sought all details related to the case, including medical test reports, reports of treatment, probe status and asked the team probe under what circumstances the victim was forced to take the drastic step of committing suicide.

While there have been demands for a CBI probe into the incident, the state government is reluctant on this and sticking to Crime Branch investigation and judicial probe. After a series of flip-flop in the case, the Crime Branch as well as the Forensic Lab in the state have lost credibility in this particular case.
