Niladri Bije Row: Puri Cops put up posters of absconding Servitors

Puri-SevayatsThe posters of the eight servitors (sevayats) of Shri Jagannath Temple who have been declared absconders by the Puri district police were found at the key places in the town like the railway station, bus stand entrance, district Collector’s office, Shree Mandir temple office, town police station on Friday.

Puri cops have set up a date of September 12 as deadline for surrender of the absconding servitors. The posters also mention that if the servitors will not surrender by September 12, then their properties would be confiscated as per law.

Notably, the posters carrying photographs of the eight servitors Damodar Mahasuara, Jayakrushna Mahasuara, Saina Khuntia, Bhimsen Palankadhari, Ipsit Pratihari, Rabi Dash, Kashinath Khuntia and Bhagirathi Khuntia are accused of misbehaving with the District Collector and manhandling the media persons during the Niladri Bije, the way back of the deities from the chariots to Ratna Simhasana on July 17, were issued by the district police on July 27.

The posters also announce that the person who would give any information about the eight servitors would be rewarded.
