No Flood panic, but Collectors put on full alert: SRC

ONI Bureau:  The Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi has asked the district Collectors in Mahanadi system to remain alert as flood water is being released from Hirakud Dam through 25 gates on Tuesday.

The district administrations were directed to take precautionary measures in view of the excess floodwater being released from the Hirakud Dam and reach out to the affected people and provide needful assistance to them.

However, Sethi has stated that the situation at present as ‘normal’.

Worth mentioning, the Boudh district administration is on high alert in view of water flowing close to danger mark in Mahanadi, flowing at 105.43 metres against danger mark of 109 metres at Khairamal.

Villagers living alongside Mahanadi river in Boudh and Subarnapur districts are facing more difficulties as flood the water snapped road communication and acres of farmland have been overwhelmed. Road communication from Sonepur to Biramaharajpur via Bijepur has been disrupted.
