OAT Abolition: Odisha Bar Council serves ultimatum

Odisha-Lawyers (1)Bhubaneswar, Oct 16:  The Bar Council of Odisha has served ultimatum to the state government over the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) abolition issue today.  Lawyers across the state were called off their protest over the issue after getting assurance from the Chief Minister on September 29.

Serving ultimatum to the Odisha government to take a decision by November end on the OAT abolition, the Lawyers body said that they will continue the protest by wearing black badges.

Notably, Odisha cabinet had approved the decision to abolish OAT on September 9. The lawyers across joined the stir initiated by OAT lawyers opposing the decision on September 15.

The tribunal was established in 1986  for the redress of government employees grievances. In India eight states including Odisha have such tribunals and three states have already abolished.
