“Odia is a Beautiful Language”: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik

Naveen-FestivalThe journalists and dignitaries present at the Odisha Literary Festival organised by The New Indian Express at Mayfair Convention, received a huge treat, as CM Naveen Patnaik ended all speculations and rumours about his ill health and inability speak, by taking direct questions from eminent journalist Prabhu Chawla and others in the audience.

He rubbished the allegations of any tacit understandings between BJD and BJP, saying it’s “quiet untrue”. Naveen expressed his disappointment over the inadequate funds received from the centre and said the centre must give Odisha its due. He also said that people of India yet to see ‘Achhe Din’ promised by PM Narendra Modi. When asked about his Idol, the CM said Barack Obama should be everyone’s Idol.

When Prabhu Chawla asked him about his favourite language, Naveen said, “Odia is a beautiful language. I love it even though I mostly speak in Hindi and English”. When somebody from the audience asked him why he is not learning in Odia, he ducked the question, saying all his speeches have been in Odia only.

Naveen was seen in a lighter mood after a long gap. He looked relaxed and even allowed many people to take selfie with him.
