ONI Bureau: As many as 100 B.Ed students and teachers from Odisha, levelled allegations against some other mates of the Agartala-based Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan of torturing them physically and mentally in the deemed University in Tripura.
They have complained that they were thrashed by their other mates as they refused to participate in a recent strike. The students are also alleged that they have been targeted over the issue.
Though they apprised the matter to the Vice Chancellor of the university, no action was taken so far, they alleged.
Former parliamentarian Baijayant Jay Panda, requested Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb to look into the matter.
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma has reviewed the matter and discussed with DGP Tripura over the issue. Thereafter, Tripura Police visited the spot & has assured security & help. Odisha DGP is in regular touch with the Tripura DGP, reportedly.
Responding promptly, Odisha Government today sent a high level team of Higher Education Department to look into the matter.
