Odisha aims to attain Top Position in “Ease of doing Business”

Naveen PatnaikIn an aim to attain the top third position on the “Ease of doing Business Indices” among Indian states, the Odisha Government on Thursday directed all the departments to reveal the reforms which they have already initiated for facilitating investment opportunities in Odisha.

Last year, the state achieved seventh position in the “ease of doing business indices”, an assessment carried out by World Bank and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) of the central government.

At a review meeting about the implementation of reform measures headed by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Industry Secretary Sanjeeb Chopra said that the reforms already implemented by July 30 would be taken into consideration in coming assessment of Indian states.

“We are making efforts to ease the process of business for all categories of industries with special focus on small and medium scale industries as these industries have potential to create more employment” said industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra.

Chief Secretary Padhi directed all the departments to upload the reforms implemented in their respective departmental websites in user-friendly manner so that investors can easily access and use it, while complying with various statutory clearances and certificates.

Padhi also ordered to upload the timelines which has been decided for various services to be provided by the departments concerned in ease of doing business. He further advised to segregate and categorize the various points which will be applicable for different types of industries and communicate with them accordingly through e-mail, mass media, and SMS modes.
