Odisha Assembly debates Privilege Motion against Abjijit Iyer-Mitra

ONI Bureau: The Odisha Assembly discussed the privilege motion moved by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra against Abhijit Iyer-Mitra over his alleged derogatory remarks against the State MLAs. The Speaker suspended the Question Hour to allow discussion on this issue.

Apart from Narasingha Mishra, Arun Sahoo (BJD), Taraprasad Bahinipati (Congress), KV Singhdeo (BJP), Pradip Purohit (BJP), Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak (BJD), Pratap Jena (BJD) Amar Satpathy (BJD) and Pramila Mallick (BJD) spoke on the issue and slammed Abhijit for his remarks against Odia culture, tradition and MLAs.

Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati was more critical of Abhijit and called him a ‘Beimaan’. Later, the Speaker convened an all-party meeting to decide on the action to be taken against Abhijit Iyer-Mitra.
