Odisha Assembly issues notification for Rajya Sabha by-poll

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday issued a formation notification for filing nominations over the election for a Rajya Sabha seat, which was fell vacant after death of BJD leader Kalpataru Das.

As per the official notification by the Election Commission of India, the nomination process will continue till December 3, scrutiny of documents will be held on December 4 and December 7 is the last date to withdraw nominations. Polling and result will be declared on December 14.

BJD leaders – N Bhaskar Rao, Rabi Nanda, Maheswar Mohanty and Pratap Deb are considered as front runners for the election, as the party might consider one of the names for the Rajya Sabha.  However, BJD has not yet declared its candidate for the Rajya Sabha by-poll.
