Odisha Assembly Speaker Niranjan Pujari meets Governor

Odisha AssemblyBhubaneswar, Sep 1: Odisha Assembly Speaker Niranjan Pujari met Governor S.C. Jamir at Raj Bjhavan here on Monday and discussed about assembly proceedings that ended on August 29.

Following allegations of partial approach against him by the Opposition MLAs, Governor summoned the Speaker. Opposition legislators alleged that the ruling BJD passed nine bills in the assembly in their absence.

After meeting with the Governor, Pujari told media that it was courteous meeting and he discussed about the constitutional matters.  The meeting last for 40 minutes and Governor heard to the Speaker over the assembly proceedings and tabled bills during the monsoon session.

Opposition leader Narasingha Mishra said that his party appealed the Governor to intervene into the proceedings of the assembly.  He alleged that the bills were passed without any discussion in the assembly and urged the Governor to quash the bills.

Odisha Assembly passed nine bills in the absence of the Congress and BJP MLAs during the session. The duo parties called boycott remaining assembly session as the speaker did not allow any discussion on the bills.  Countering the allegations, BJD chief whip Ananta Das said opposition parties played their role and we discharged our duty.
