Odisha ‘Baba’ gets Death Sentence for Sacrificing Minor Boy

Jajpur, Aug 4: The district and sessions court in Jajpur district awarded death sentence to self-proclaimed ‘Baba’ Pitamber Gaipei for committing human sacrifice in 2010. The court described the case as ‘rarest of rare’ the fake Baba sacrificed a minor boy at his mutt. Hearing and examining 22 witnesses in the case, the court pronounced death penalty to the convicted baba. On Februay 11, 2010, the fake ‘Baba’ murdered a minor boy -Srikant Bag at his mutt in the village of Damodarpur in Jajpur district. Later it was confirmed as a case of human sacrifice.

Srikant Bag belonged to Icchapur village under Sukinda police limits. He came to watch opera with his parents on February 11, 2010. He was abducted by Pitamber and taken him to his mutt, where he beheaded Srikant. After his death, his torso was buried in a nearby village and he buried the head of the child in his mutt. Parents of the child filed a complaint stating that their son was missing since February 10. Investigating into the matter, police caught Gaipei as taken him to custody on February 18 2010.
