Odisha born IPS Officer Lokanath Behera appointed as Kerala DGP

IPS Loknath BeheraOdisha-born IPS officer Lokanath Behera was appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Kerala on Tuesday. Lokanath Behera is from Puri and he holds a Masters degree in Geology from Utkal University.

Behera was appointed to the IPS in 1985 and is a part of the Kerala cadre. He started his career as an ASP, in Kerala and also served as DCP in Kochi and Commissioner of Police in Thiruvananthapuram.

Lokanath Behara is an officer in the Indian Police Service, who has been appointed as the State Police Chief and DGP.

Behera, who had worked in the CBI and the NIA, was the Commandant General of Fire and Rescue Services.

While on deputation at the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Behera was awarded the Presidents Medal for Distinguished Services in 2009.
