Odisha bowl Punjab out for 167 in Ranji Trophy

Basant-Mohanty111A spirited bowling performance by Basant Mohanty and Deepak Behera put Punjab on the mat on their home turf in Mohali, as they were bowled out for 167 in the first innings of Ranji Trophy. In reply, Odisha finished Day 1 at 54/1.

At one stage, Pubjab were 73/9, but Manpreet Gony (51*) and Sandeep Sharma (35*) added 94 runs for the last wicket to reduce Odisha’s advantage to a great extent. Opener Jiwanjot Singh scored 27. For Odisha, Basant Mohanty and Deepak Behera took four wickets each. Alok Mangaraj took two wickets.

Odisha openers did a good job by adding 54 runs for the first wicket before Paresh Patel falling at 27 in the last over of Day 1. Girija Rout was batting on 24. It would be interesting to see how the Odisha batsmen negotiate with Punjab’s bowling attack this morning.
