Odisha Budget 2015-16: Key Highlights

imageOdisha Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat presented the Budget for the year 2015-16 inside the Odisha Assembly today. The 2015-16 budget has provided special budget of Rs 10,903.62 core for Agriculture and around Rs 1,403 crore for Naveen Patnaik’s Re 1 per kg Rice scheme.

Adequate funds have been allocated to Education, Health and Women & Child Welfare. In addition, special funds have been provided for Nabakalebara preparations in Puri. Power sector has been given adequate funds too.

imageNo new taxes have been announced in Odisha Budget 2015-16. Total plan outlay has been pegged at Rs 84,487.77 crore, while revenue surplus has been estimated at Rs 5,101.51 crore. The fiscal deficit for 2015-16 will be Rs 10,400 crore. The expected revenue collection has been pegged at Rs 70,940 crore.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik termed the budget as visionary, pragmatic and people friendly. The Opposition has slammed the budget, saying it lacks vision and growth options.
