Odisha Cabinet approves KALIA Scheme for Farmers

ONI Bureau:  Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved the KALIA scheme (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood & Income Augmentation) to provide financial, livelihood, cultivation support along with insurance support to farmers and Sharecroppers.

Under the KALIA scheme, the small & marginal farmers will get Rs 10,000 assistance per annum (Rs 5000 each for Kharif season & rabi season) for purchasing of fertiliser, seeds and insecticides.

Besides, farmers will get interest free Loans up to Rs 50,000 with Rs 2 lakh for life and Rs 2 lakh accidental insurance.

This will benefit as many as 30 lakh small, marginal and landless farmers of the state. An amount of Rs 10,000 crore will be spent on KALIA scheme for four years from 2018 to 2022.
