Odisha celebrates Kartik Purnima with great religious fervor

ONI Bureau:  Recalling the state’s glorious maritime history, thousands of Odias today marked Kartik Purnima with religious fervor by floating boats.

People of all age groups throng to nearby water bodies for sailing of boats made up of Banana barks, thermocol and papers accompanied by “Aa Kaa Maa Boi” chanting to celebrate ‘Boita Bandana’.

It is also believed that those who take a dip in water and visit temple on the day will get absolution from their sins and attain salvation.
