Odisha celebrates Rasagola Dibasa

Rasagola Divas“Rasagola Dibasa” was celebrated on Sunday by the people of Odisha on the occasion of Niladri Bije when Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra enter to the Jagannath temple after their nine-day long annual journey and rasagola was offered to the lords as a century-old tradition.

As per the tradition, on this day Lord Jagannath offers Rasagolas to satisfy goddess Laxmi, who was upset after after the trinity went on the nine-day journey to his aunt’s house without her consent.

Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand art at Puri beach on this occasion.

It is also noted that, West Bengal is sparing with Odisha over the origin of the sweet. It is believed that the sweet was invented in their state in 1868 by iconic confectioner Nobin Chandra Das and Odisha says it was invented in the holy city of Puri.

The Odisha Government has set up committees to find out strong evidence that the Sweet has originated in Odisha.
