Odisha CIC Tarun Kanti Mishra resigns on Personal Grounds

imageIn an unprecedented late night move, the Odisha Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Tarun Kanti Mishra resigned from his post, citing ‘personal reasons’.

It can be recalled that Tarun Kanti Mishra’s name had cropped up in the list of beneficiaries of government land recently. Te list was circulated by some RTI activists on social media. His resignation could be attributed to that development, although it is yet to be verified.

Tarun Kanti Mishra, a 1975 batch IAS Officer, was the Chief Secretary of a odisha during 2009-10. He had taken over as the CIC on November 19, 2010. During his illustrious bureaucratic career, he worked as Secretary in various departments, including Home, Revenue, Excise, Energy, Commerce & Transport, I&PR, School & Mass Education, Women & Child Development etc.

He has also written several books and compilation of short stories. He was awarded the prestigious ‘Odisha Sahitya Academy’ Award for his significant contribution to Odia literature.
