Odisha CM announces Welfare Schemes for Unorganised Labourers

Insight Bureau: While addressing the 1st Convention of Biju Sharamik Sammukhya (BSS), Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced various welfare schemes for the labourers in unorganised sector.

The CM declared that Odia labourers in the organised sectors will be provided pucca houses/rented houses in towns. All labourers will be provided identity cards so that they are not exploited by touts and employers. They will be covered under the social security scheme.

They will also get assistance towards their children’s education, wedding assistance and pension, as announced earlier. Even, social security provisions will be given to women labourers too. Over 7,000 labourers and workers attended the convention held in Bhubaneswar today.
