Odisha CM asks Banks to supply adequate Rs 500, Rs 100 Notes in Rural Areas

Naveen PatnaikExpressing concern over the post demonetization situation, Chief Miniser NaveenPatnaik on Tuesday asked top officials of Reserve Bank of India and other banks to supply adequate number of Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes in rural areas of the state.

Due to shortage of notes, farmers are finding it difficult to pay crop insurance premium, wages, and buy seeds.

In this connection, Chief Minister held a review meeting over the demonetisation issue on Tuesday. Patnaik held a video conferencing with the District Collectors over paddy procurement and crop insurance and other agricultural activities where he asked collectors to provide drought assistance to the affected farmers by Dec 17.
