Odisha CM decides to form House Committee on Mahanadi

ONI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday informed that a House Committee will be formed to chart out the future course of action on Mahanadi river water dispute with Chhattisgarh.

Reportedly, the Assembly on Thursday witnessed repeated adjournments as members of all party engaged in a war of words over the river water dispute following which the Speaker had called for an all-party meeting.

CM Naveen Patnaik, Speaker Pradeep Amat, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, BJP leader KV Singhdeo and Parliamentary Affairs Committee members are also attended at the meeting.

Briefing the media the Chief Minister said, what the Centre has done in the Supreme Court suggests that it is “no longer a neutral referee” on the Mahanadi issue. Naveen said his government will hold further discussions with all party leaders about the strategies and will fight for Odisha’s interests.
