Odisha CM directs to electrify all Villages by March 2017

electrification-odishaChief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday directed the Energy Department to ensure power for all villages by May, 2017 and households by Mar 2019.

While reviewing the status of rural electrification projects at state secretariat, the Chief Minister directed to electrify the Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Nuapada and Nabarangpur districts completely by February, 2017.

The Chief Minister also directed prioritized electrification at all Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste Hostels.

Patnaik issued the directions at a high level review meeting on rural electrification in Bhubaneswar.

The meeting revealed that, over 2,000 villages electrified during last year while remaining 1,318 villages to be electrified by May, 2017.

Highlights of the rural electrification:
• 24×7 electricity for all to become a reality by March, 2019.
• All Primary and Community Health Centres have been electrified.
• Till date, 64 lakh household shave been electrified in the state.
• All BPL households to be electrified within next 2 years.
• From 151 nos. 33/11 KV Substations in 2000, State now has 800 nos. in 2016
• 500 nos. new 33.11 KV Substations are being set up under Odisha Distribution System Strengthening Project & CAPEX Programme. 434 out of those will be set up in rural areas.
• Separate feeders for fishery and agriculture sector to provide uninterrupted power supply.
• Separate fishery feeders to be completed within next 6 months & separate agriculture feeders in due time.
