Odisha CM ensures 100% Guaranteed Employment for Tribals

In a review meeting on Guaranteed Employment Scheme held at the State Secretariat on Friday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid stress on generating more guaranteed employment for the backward tribals in coming years by proper schemes and their implementation.

The Chief Minister also said, around four crores of man days have been created in this financial year under the Central Government’s flagship MGNREG (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee) programme and for this purpose, around Rs 1,243 crores has been spent.

The Chief Minister also asked the concerned department to ensure 100 per cent employment to tribals for their holistic development.

The State Government has planned to launch special provisions to increase the participation of tribals and poor in the guaranteed employment schemes in the days ahead.

As per the programme, special training will be provided on farming practices. Besides, stress will be given to eradicate bonded labour by hiking labour days under MGNREGS by 118 per cent.
